Basic Maths
26.06.15, My basic facts practise.
Today in my basic facts maths I didn’t do well because I had 27/40. It’s telling me that I need to think harder and to be quicker at my basic facts.

Fractions.
WALT: Find fractions of a quantity
1. Matthew is a huge rugby league fan and has 28 NRL cards. One quarter of them are Melbourne Storm cards. How many of them are Melbourne Storm cards?
STRATEGY: 28÷4= 7
7x1=7
SOLUTION SENTENCE:
There are 7 Melbourne storm card all together.
2. In Mark’s class there are 18 children. ⅓ of them are boys. How many boys are in Mark’s class?
STRATEGY: 18÷3=6
6x1=6
SOLUTION SENTENCE:
There are 6 boys in Mark’s class.
3. Luke has 32 first cousins. ¾ of them live in Auckland and the rest of them live in Wellington. How many of Luke’s cousins live in Auckland?
STRATEGY:24÷ 4=8
8x3=24
SOLUTION SENTENCE:
There are 24 cousins that live in Auckland.
